Miss the call. Never miss the lead.
The second a call to your shop goes unanswered, the caller gets a text from your own business number — in your shop's voice — so the conversation keeps going instead of walking down the road to whoever picks up.
- Your shop's number
- You answer first

Thirty-four seconds is the difference.
Not a statistic — a clock. This is what happens between the call you couldn't take and the customer telling you what they want.
0:00Jordan calls. Nobody's at the desk.
The phone rang your cell and the front desk first — you always get the chance to pick up. This one went unanswered.
0:07Your shop texts back.
From your own business number, written in your shop's voice, seven seconds after the call ended.
0:34Jordan is typing.
The caller who was about to dial the next shop is now in a conversation with yours.
You still answer first. It only steps in on a real miss.
This isn't a robot cutting in front of you. Calls ring your phone first; the responder only reaches out when the call would otherwise have gone nowhere.
- 1
The call rings your shop first
Inbound calls route through Service VIN to a real phone you set — your cell, the front desk, wherever you actually answer. You always get the chance to pick up in person first. Nothing texts while your phone is still ringing. - 2
A genuine miss triggers it
Only a real miss fires the text-back — no answer, busy, failed or canceled. If you catch the call, nothing sends. The caller has to have actually slipped through before the responder ever steps in. - 3
The caller hears back in seconds
Within seconds the caller gets a text from your shop's business number — the same one on your website — picking up the conversation you just missed, so a busy install day never costs you the lead.
A text that sounds like your shop — never a dead-end auto-reply.
The worst version of this is a robotic “we missed your call” that a customer ignores. So the reply is written in your shop's voice — and it comes from a number they can actually text back.
Written in your shop's voice
The reply is drafted by AI in the tone you set for your shop — not a robotic “we missed your call” stock line. It reads like your front desk typed it, because it learned how your front desk talks.
A fallback that always goes out
If AI drafting is ever unavailable, a built-in fallback message still sends. A caller is never left in silence waiting on a system that hiccuped — the text goes out either way.
Personalized when you know them
If the number that called is already a customer, the text-back greets them by name. A returning customer feels remembered, not processed.
Sent from your business number
The text comes from your shop's number, so it lands in the same thread as every other message you've traded — and the customer can just text back to keep it going.
Seconds after the beep, a real conversation.
From the caller's side there's no waiting, no voicemail tag, no wondering if you'll call back. They tried to reach you, and moments later your shop is already talking to them — by name, if they're a customer you know — in the same thread they'd use for everything else.
- Arrives within seconds of the missed call
- Comes from your shop's number, in your shop's voice
- Greets a known customer by name
- They just text back — the lead stays warm

Fast for real leads. Quiet for everything else.
An auto-texter you can't trust is worse than none at all. The responder has hard limits baked in so a redial, a robocaller or a bad day of junk calls can never turn into a texting storm.
Opt-outs are honored
Anyone who has said STOP never gets a text-back — the opt-out is checked before a single message is queued. And because this is a reply to someone who just called you, it doesn't lean on marketing consent.
No double-texting a redial
The same caller won't be texted twice within an hour, so a customer who redials three times — or a robocaller that hammers the line — gets one reply, not a barrage.
A daily cap on the whole thing
A daily limit keeps a flood of spam calls from turning into a flood of outbound texts. If a bad day of junk calls hits, the cap holds the line.
A STOP line in every reply
Every text-back carries a STOP line, so a caller who doesn't want the follow-up can end it in one word — and that choice sticks for good.
Illustrative estimate of how many missed callers end up in a live conversation when an instant text-back reaches them versus waiting on a callback that may never happen.

Text-back, AI Calling, or the AI Front Desk?
Three things on this site touch your phone line and they are genuinely different products. Here is the honest split.
Missed-Call Text-Back
You are hereYou want this when you want the caller you missed to hear from you in seconds, by text.
It does not answer the phone. Nobody picks up — this is a reply after the call ends.
AI Calling
You want this when you want the calls you DO answer recorded, transcribed, summarised, and the quote you promised drafted for you.
It does not place or answer calls on your behalf; it works on the calls you take.
AI Front Desk
You want this when you want the whole front-desk job — the text-back, the drafting and the booking — as one monthly offer, running beside whatever software you use today.
It does not require you to migrate anything. Voice answering inside it is a Command-plan beta.
What it takes to switch on.
It isn't magic on top of your old carrier line. You point call forwarding at a number you actually answer, switch on the missed-call automation, and route your shop's calls through Service VIN's messaging line so the text comes from your business number. It's part of the Growth plan's AI texting and automations — the pricing page has the details for each plan.
Questions, answered.
Does it text before I get a chance to answer?
No. Calls ring a real phone you set first — your cell, the front desk, wherever you answer — and you always get the chance to pick up in person. The text-back only fires on a genuine miss: no answer, busy, failed or canceled. Catch the call and nothing sends.
What number does the text come from?
Your shop's own business number — the same one on your website and the same one that just rang. The reply lands in the customer's existing thread with you, and they can text straight back to keep the conversation going. There's no separate “do-not-reply” number.
Is this an AI receptionist that answers the phone?
No — it's a text-back on a missed call, not a voice answer. Nobody, human or AI, picks up on your behalf; the caller simply gets a text seconds after the call goes unanswered. Service VIN does have a separate AI voice receptionist, but that's a distinct, opt-in beta — this feature is the text reply.
Won't this spam people who call twice?
It's built not to. The same caller won't be texted more than once within an hour, so redials and robocallers don't trigger repeat messages, and a daily cap keeps a run of spam calls from driving unlimited texts. Anyone who has opted out never gets one at all.
Do I need call recording consent to use it?
This feature doesn't record anything — it reacts to a missed dial and sends a text. Because the message is a direct reply to someone who just called your shop, it doesn't require marketing consent, and every reply still includes a STOP line for anyone who'd rather not hear back.
What does it take to turn on?
Two switches: forward your calls to a number you actually answer (Settings → Phone numbers), and turn on the missed-call automation so an unanswered call texts them back. Your shop's calls also need to route through Service VIN's messaging line, so the text comes from your business number. It's part of the Growth plan's AI texting and automations — see the pricing page for exactly what each plan includes.
It doesn't work alone
The rest of the conversation lives here
- FeatureAI CallingThe calls you DO answer, transcribed and summarised.
- FeatureCRM & LeadsWhere the recovered thread lands and stops falling through.
- FeatureOnline BookingsSo the reply can end in a booked slot, not another call.
- FeatureAutomationsWhat happens if they read the text and still don't answer.
A booked bay is the only marketing metric that pays a bill.
The next call you can't take doesn't have to be a lost one.
A missed call texted back in seconds, from your own number, in your own voice — with the safeguards that keep it honest. That's Missed-Call Text-Back.
