Service VIN vs the field

They organize your jobs. Service VIN wins them.

Service VIN is the AI-native operating system for detailing, PPF, tint & wrap shops. An AI staff answers the missed call, drafts the quote you promised, chases it until it's signed, and books it into the most profitable slot — with film cost and margin computed from the actual roll on your rack. Flat price. Unlimited seats from Growth. Set up in an afternoon.

The short answer

How does Service VIN compare with Urable, Tint Wiz, OrbisX, Shopmonkey and the rest?

  • Urable, Tint Wiz, OrbisX, DetailPro, QuoteIQ and Mobile Tech RX are built for this trade, and each has something it genuinely does well — a 3D visualizer, cut optimization, integration breadth, fast mobile estimating. The individual pages credit those first.
  • Jobber and Housecall Pro are strong home- and field-service platforms that model the property and the job at an address; Shopmonkey and Tekmetric are strong general auto-repair systems. None of the four models the vehicle the way a film shop needs.
  • Service VIN is built around the film shop's own objects: coverage and panel quoting, rolls tracked to the linear foot, VIN garages and warranties — which is what makes a live profit margin, costed from your real roll cost, possible on every quote.
  • The AI team is included rather than metered: a calling copilot that records, transcribes and summarizes calls, plus draft-first texting agents for lead response, quote follow-up, win-back and reviews.
  • Every competitor claim on these pages is dated and sourced on the page itself, and where something could not be verified first-hand the page says so instead of guessing.

Bottom line: If your shop's deciding factors are margin costed from real film, film tracked to the foot and an AI front desk that is not billed per conversation, Service VIN is built for that. If they are a 3D visualizer, a parts pipeline or home-services dispatch, one of the tools below is the better answer — and each page says so.

I didn't set out to sell software. I run a PPF shop, and I built Service VIN to stop underpricing my own wraps and quietly losing leads. We're all installers before we're business owners — this is the owner half, handled. It's not a weekend app; it's the tool I wish I'd had, run in a real shop every day before it ever reached yours.

Why it's different

Five things a check mark can't tell you.

The other names in this trade are good at a slice of the job, and the grid below gives them every check they've earned. These five are the difference between software that records the work and software that goes and gets it.

An AI staff, not AI features

An AI staff of eleven named agents answers new leads, chases quiet quotes and wins back cold work — on autopilot or as drafts you approve, one shop voice, quiet hours and opt-outs handled, every action on a ledger you can read.

Call-to-cash follow-through

The missed call gets a text back, the call gets recorded and transcribed, and the quote you promised is already drafted — one tap to send, then they sign and pay the deposit online.

Margin as a first-class object

Live profit margin on every quote, costed from the actual cost of the film on your shelf, profit-ranked scheduling, and real gross profit on every finished job.

Built for vehicles, not 'jobs'

VIN scan, a garage per customer, panel-level quoting, rate matrices by vehicle size, film tracked to the foot, and an installer app made for the bay.

Flat price, whole crew

Simple monthly plans in US dollars. Add every installer and front-desk person from Growth up without watching a per-seat meter climb — and you're live in an afternoon.

Why shops switch

Three things you'll feel in the first week.

Not a longer feature list — a shorter path from a ringing phone to a booked bay to a paid, profitable job.

01 · The margin engine

Price like you can see your own cost.

Every other tool lets you write a number on a quote. Service VIN shows you what that number does to your margin — live, as you build it, costed from your film's real cost per foot. It's the one thing a general CRM can't fake, because it starts in your inventory.

  • Margin $ and % update on every line you add
  • Priced from your real per-foot film cost, not a number you guessed
  • A short-stock warning before you send, not after you book
  • Deposit, e-sign and auto-invoice the moment they say yes

02 · The AI team

A front desk that never clocks out.

"AI scheduling" is one thing. Service VIN ships eleven specialists: they answer new leads in seconds, ride along on every call to transcribe and draft the follow-through, chase quiet quotes, and text cold leads back into the book — every message in your shop's one voice, with quiet hours and opt-outs handled automatically.

  • AI Calling: recordings, transcripts, summaries and one-tap follow-through
  • Lead Responder & Campaign Runner (incl. cold-lead win-back), plus automated missed-call text-backs, quote chasing, appointment reminders & review asks
  • Your call — set each agent to autopilot or to draft-first, where it queues the message for your approval. Either way, every action lands on the execution ledger
  • An opt-in AI voice receptionist (beta) that answers the phone
  • Compliance built in — STOP words, consent and quiet hours enforced

03 · Built for film

Inventory that knows what film costs.

A roll of PPF is a four-figure asset that gets consumed eighteen feet at a time. Service VIN tracks every roll and remnant at the cost you actually paid, warns you before you run dry, and puts real material cost on every job — the number that turns "we should waste less" into a figure you can push down.

  • Roll-level stock with real cost, lot number and rack location
  • Reorder alerts before the core runs empty
  • Real material COGS on every job and in every report
  • An append-only ledger — every foot, who logged it, when and why

Security & platform

Serious software, built the careful way.

This isn't a weekend project. Service VIN runs on Postgres with forced row-level security, encrypted secrets, signed webhooks and append-only money ledgers — real infrastructure, and every feature is tested before it ships. Your customer list, your numbers and your reputation live here, and it's built to protect all three.

Built on Supabase (Postgres, Auth, Storage), Vercel and Stripe — mature, widely used infrastructure, not a homemade stack.

Multi-tenant from line one

One company can run several shops, each fully walled off. Data isolation is enforced in the database itself with row-level security — forced on every tenant table, so a shop can never read another shop's records.

Encrypted token vault

Every third-party connection (QuickBooks, Xero, Google) is stored with AES-256-GCM authenticated encryption. The key lives outside the database — a raw read of the table yields nothing usable.

Signed, verified webhooks

Every inbound webhook — Stripe, Twilio and more — is signature-verified before it's trusted. Unsigned or tampered requests are rejected, not processed.

Ledgers that can't be rewritten

Your money, pay and material-cost ledgers are append-only — writes only, no silent edits or quiet deletes, enforced by the database itself. The audit trail is the record, and it stays honest.

Compliance on by design

Texting ships off until you turn it on. STOP/opt-out is absolute, marketing consent is respected, and quiet hours are enforced in the customer's own time zone.

Least-privilege access

Roles and permissions gate every sensitive action — pay, billing, settings. Staff see what their job needs and nothing more, enforced server-side.

Priced for shops, not seats

One rebooked job pays for the month.

Simple plans in US dollars. Higher tiers put more AI to work — but even the entry plan runs your whole shop, and you're never billed per person for adding your crew.

Questions

Frequently asked.

How is Service VIN different from the wrap/detail tools I've tried?

Most of them organize work you've already won. Service VIN is built to win it. Two things make that concrete. First, quoting starts in your inventory: margin is live and costed from your real roll cost, so you stop underpricing without noticing. Second, the AI isn't a single 'scheduling' toggle — it's a staff of eleven named agents that answer calls, draft the follow-through for you to approve, chase quotes and win back cold leads. Most tools do the CRM-and-booking part well; Service VIN does that and the film-specific, revenue-specific work around it.

Do you really replace several separate apps?

Yes — that's the point. A typical shop cancels about six subscriptions: a CRM, a quoting/invoicing tool, a booking page, a review-request service, a texting tool and a scheduling calendar. Leads, quotes, invoices, payments, booking, the job board, film inventory, documents, reporting and the AI follow-up all live under one login and talk to each other, so a lead becomes a quote, a quote becomes a booked bay, and a finished job becomes a paid invoice and a review request — without re-typing anything into a second system.

Will you charge me per user as my team grows?

No. On Growth and up, team logins are unlimited — add every installer and front-desk person without a per-seat bill. Essentials includes three logins. Pricing is a flat monthly plan in US dollars, not a headcount meter. AI usage runs on a monthly credit allowance that comes with your plan (100, 500, 750 or 1,500 credits a month depending on the plan), and a typical month costs nothing extra.

Is my shop's data safe and separate from other shops?

Yes. Service VIN is multi-tenant from the ground up: every shop's data is isolated at the database level with row-level security that's enforced on every table, so one shop can never see another's records. Third-party tokens are stored with AES-256-GCM encryption, inbound webhooks are signature-verified, and your money and material-cost ledgers are append-only, so they can't be quietly edited.

Can I bring my customers and history over?

In an afternoon. Import your customer list from any spreadsheet, set your services once, and take your first online booking the same day. If you want a hand migrating, email us and we'll walk through it with you.

I'm a single shop today — is this overkill?

Start on Essentials and use what you need; the AI and multi-shop features are there the day you want them. Every new shop trials every feature free for 14 days with 300 AI credits and no card, so you can feel the whole thing before you decide.

See the difference in your own shop.

Start free, import your book, and build one live-margin quote. If it doesn't change how you price, you've lost nothing but an afternoon.
