What is a material marketplace for wrap shops?
It's a platform where wrap, PPF, tint and detail shops buy and sell leftover or specialty materials with each other. Service VIN's Film Exchange connects shops through shared inventory: every shop's excess film becomes stock another shop can source in small quantities, and every trade is recorded on both shops' books automatically.
How does it reduce costs?
In both directions. Buying: purchase 15 feet of a specialty color for a one-off instead of committing to a full roll — you pay for what the job needs. Selling: film sitting on a rack quietly depreciates; listing it recovers real dollars from material you already paid for. The suggested asking price is computed from your true per-foot cost, so recovering cost — not guessing — is the default.
Can shops sell leftover vinyl or PPF film?
Yes. List vinyl wrap, PPF, window tint and specialty materials — full rolls, partial rolls or remnants, with the condition marked on every listing. The fastest path is listing straight from a roll in your Service VIN inventory: title, brand, SKU, width and remaining footage prefill, and the listing can never offer more feet than the roll actually has.
Does the Film Exchange connect to inventory?
Yes — in both directions, and that's the point. Listings pull from your film-roll inventory, confirmed sales draw the sold footage down through the same append-only consumption ledger your jobs use (recorded as a transfer), and purchases you mark received land in your inventory as a real roll at the price you paid. Nothing is retyped and both shops' numbers stay true.
How does payment work?
Directly between the two shops, on handoff — e-transfer, card, cash, whatever the businesses agree. Service VIN records the trade itself (footage, price per foot, subtotal, both parties, every status change) so each side has a clean record, and takes no commission on trades.
Who can see my listings and my costs?
Only members of Service VIN shops can browse the exchange — listings are never public internet pages. And only your asking price is visible: what the film cost you stays private to your shop, even though the suggested price is computed from it.
What stops a listing from overselling my roll?
Three guards. A listing created from a roll is capped at the footage that actually remains. Purchases are requests — nothing moves until you confirm, and each confirmation re-checks what's still available. And once the available footage hits zero the listing flips itself to sold. If a job consumed part of the roll after you listed it, the transfer records at most what's physically left.
