Tekmetric alternatives
Six real Tekmetric alternatives — honestly
If you run general repair, four of the six below are your real shortlist and we are not one of them. This page maps the field anyway — what each alternative is genuinely better at, what to watch for, and a date and a source on every claim — and says plainly which reader Service VIN is actually for.
The short answer
What are the best Tekmetric alternatives for an auto shop?
If you run general repair, the real Tekmetric alternatives are Shopmonkey, AutoLeap, Shop Boss and Torque360 — all four carry the parts pipelines, labor guides and inspections repair work needs. Service VIN belongs on this list only for an appearance shop paying for repair machinery it has never opened.
- Tekmetric is the deep end of this category: repair orders, photo and video digital vehicle inspections, the PartsTech parts pipeline, MOTOR labor guides with automatic markup, advisor and technician boards, and live gross profit on every repair order.
- Its billing is a real strength and is worth naming before any complaint: $199 (Start), $349 (Grow) and $439 (Scale) per month, month-to-month, with no long-term contract.
- The usual reason shops shop is what sits outside the tier — Multi-Shop Management about $70/month per shop, the Tire Suite about $39, and Marketing about $345, which puts a growing shop at roughly $850+/month per location (published rates and third-party breakdowns, July 2026).
- Shopmonkey is the closest like-for-like; AutoLeap adds a paid implementation that migrates your data; Shop Boss includes unlimited users and unlimited repair orders; Torque360 starts around $99/month with no setup fee.
- Service VIN is not a repair platform and does not pretend to be. It is the answer only if your revenue is film, wrap, tint, coatings or detailing and repair-shop objects have never fitted your work.
Bottom line: For a general repair shop this is a four-way decision between Shopmonkey, AutoLeap, Shop Boss and Torque360, and Service VIN is not in it. For an appearance shop paying for a parts pipeline and labor guides it never opens, the honest answer is different software, not a cheaper tier.
How to choose
Four questions that settle it
Feature lists all look the same by the third tab. These are the axes an auto shop actually feels six months in.
- Does your revenue come from parts and labor, or from materials?
- This is the question the whole decision hangs on. A repair shop bills parts at a markup against a labor guide; a film shop bills coverage against a roll it cut. Software built for one models the other badly, and no amount of configuration fixes it.
- What is on the bill besides the plan?
- Repair platforms differ most in what sits outside the tier: multi-shop fees, tire suites, marketing modules, setup fees and payment processing. Price the shape you will actually be on in a year, not the entry rung.
- Are you on a contract, and who moves your data?
- Month-to-month with no contract is worth real money when you are unsure. So is a paid implementation that migrates your history for you. They are opposite answers to the same anxiety, and it is worth knowing which one you are buying.
- Is the AI a module, or part of the product?
- A marketing add-on priced per shop is a different purchase from a receptionist included in the plan. Ask what it actually does — drafts, answers, books — and what it costs at the second and third location.
The field
Six alternatives, and who each one is for
Shopmonkey1
Best for: Repair shops that want a generous entry tier
Genuinely good atUnlimited quotes and invoices, two-way SMS and email, integrated payments and parts lookup in the Basic tier, with DVIs, inventory and QuickBooks at Clever and labor guides, diagrams and tire ordering at Genius. Plus a custom Multi-Shop plan.
Watch forThe exact entry price is not verified as of 2026-09-11 — aggregators put annual rates at $199/$324/$475 a month while the vendor's own page surfaced “from $215/month”. Monthly billing runs roughly 10% over annual.
Service VIN vs ShopmonkeyAutoLeap2
Best for: Shops that want somebody else to run the migration
Genuinely good atAll-in-one repair management — estimates, repair orders, DVIs, payments, reviews, technician management — with a paid implementation that includes a dedicated plan, full data migration and hands-on training, which none of the self-serve tools here offer.
Watch forPricing runs from $179/month up to roughly $409–$449 depending on the source, there is a one-time setup fee, aggregator listings report no free trial, and G2 reviews cite confusing pricing, contracts and expensive payment processing.
Service VIN vs AutoLeapShop Boss3
Best for: Shops that want every login included
Genuinely good atWeb-based repair management with unlimited repair orders and unlimited users, built-in VIN scanning that pulls vehicle and customer information, BOSS Inspect for digital inspections, BOSS Board dashboards, live local parts availability and BOSS Pay with mobile checkout.
Watch forPricing is not verified as of 2026-09-11 — two aggregators publish contradictory plan ladders under the same names, so this page prints neither. Free-trial terms and a native mobile app were not verified either.
Service VIN vs Shop BossTorque3604
Best for: Shops shopping the price ladder first
Genuinely good atScheduling, reminders, estimates, invoices, POS, vehicle inspection and repair-order management from $99.99/month ($89.99 billed annually), with no setup fee, unlimited co-users on the Turbo tier, and parts integrations with Nexpart, PartsTech and Epicor.
Watch forThe Starter tier caps co-users at five, the Supercharged tier is priced on request, and a mobile app, two-way texting and free-trial terms were not verified as of 2026-09-11.
Service VIN vs Torque360Urable5
Best for: Appearance shops leaving repair software behind
Genuinely good atAn auto-only specialist for detailing, PPF, tint and coatings — scheduling, CRM, invoicing and inventory alerts — with unlimited users on every plan and a 3D vehicle visualizer as a paid add-on. Widely praised for responsive support.
Watch forIt is not a repair platform either: no parts catalogue, no labor guides, no DVI. Customer self-booking generally steps up from the entry Express plan, and per-tier figures come from aggregator listings rather than Urable's own page.
Service VIN vs UrableService VIN6
Best for: Film, wrap, tint, coating and detail shops only
Genuinely good atCoverage- and panel-based quoting with a live profit margin costed from the real per-foot cost of the roll being cut; film tracked to the foot with true COGS; bay scheduling with double-book protection enforced in the database; a VIN garage with warranties; and an AI calling copilot plus draft-first texting agents in the plan rather than sold as a per-shop marketing module.
Watch forIt is not repair software: no parts catalogue, no parts ordering, no MOTOR labor guides, no repair-order workflow and no DVI. If you turn wrenches for a living, buy one of the four above instead. Photos, quotes, notes and appointment history do not come across on import.

- 1.Shopmonkey per shopmonkey.io/pricing and Capterra, web-search snippets 2026-09-11: Basic / Clever / Genius plus a custom Multi-Shop plan; the aggregator puts annual rates at $199, $324 and $475 a month with monthly billing roughly 10% higher, while the vendor's own page surfaced “plans starting from just $215/month”. The two do not reconcile, so the entry figure is NOT VERIFIED. Tier contents per the same Capterra listing. shopmonkey.io/pricing
- 2.AutoLeap per autoleap.com/pricing and G2, web-search snippets 2026-09-11: “AutoLeap pricing starts at $179 per month… a higher-tier plan at $449/month when billed annually… there is a one-time setup fee which includes a dedicated implementation plan, full data migration, hands-on team training, and priority support throughout setup.” G2 lists Essentials $179, Pro $309 and Elite $409, reports no free trial, and summarises user complaints about pricing structure, contracts and payment processing. autoleap.com/pricing
- 3.Shop Boss per shopboss.net, web-search snippet 2026-09-11: unlimited repair orders and users, BOSS Inspect, built-in VIN scanning, BOSS Board, live local parts availability and BOSS Pay with mobile checkout. PRICING IS DELIBERATELY NOT STATED: Capterra lists Silver $99 / Gold $159 / Platinum $259 / Enterprise $299–$399 while SoftwareSuggest lists Gold $199 / Platinum $299 / Premier $399 — two different ladders under the same plan names. shopboss.net/pricing

- 6.Service VIN's capabilities are shipped features of this product, and its prices come from the published plan catalog rather than a hand-typed figure. That it has no parts catalogue, parts ordering, labor guides, repair-order workflow or DVI is a statement about this product, not a claim about anyone else's.
Tekmetric itself is covered on its own page. Competitor pricing and packaging move, and every figure above was read through a search index rather than fetched from the vendor — check each vendor's site for the current word before you decide.

Service VIN against Tekmetric, in detail
The incumbent is the comparison that matters most, so it gets the table. Two rows carry a cross against Service VIN and they are the two a repair shop cares most about — that is the point of publishing the table rather than a paragraph.
| What you are comparing | Service VIN | Tekmetric |
|---|---|---|
| What you pay | Flat tiers — Essentials $79, Growth $199, Command $399 in US dollars, no per-seat charge | $199 (Start), $349 (Grow) and $439 (Scale) per month, plus an Enterprise tier priced by conversation1 |
| Contract | Yes: Monthly or annual; two months free on annual | Yes: Month-to-month with no long-term contract — a real strength, credited1 |
| Add-ons on top of the tier | Yes: The AI calling and texting team is in the plan, not a per-shop module | Multi-Shop about $70/mo per shop, Tire Suite about $39, Marketing about $345 — a growing shop is put at roughly $850+/mo per location2 |
| Parts pipeline and labor guides | No: Not offered — Service VIN models neither parts nor labor time | Yes: The PartsTech pipeline and MOTOR labor guides with automatic markup3 |
| Digital vehicle inspections | Partly: Job photo phases and a customer job tracker — not a repair DVI | Yes: Photo and video digital vehicle inspections3 |
| Film coverage, rolls and cure times | Yes: Coverage zones and install positions, rolls by the linear foot, coating layers and cure windows, film-warranty documents | No: Not modelled — a fit statement about a repair-shop system, not a criticism of it4 |

Questions
Tekmetric alternatives, answered
What is the best Tekmetric alternative?
For a general repair shop: Shopmonkey if you want a generous entry tier, AutoLeap if you want a paid implementation that moves your data for you, Shop Boss if unlimited users matters most, and Torque360 if you are shopping the price ladder. Service VIN is not a serious answer for a repair shop and this page is not going to pretend it is — it belongs on the list only for an appearance shop that ended up on repair software.
Tekmetric vs Service VIN pricing — which actually costs less?
On the plan alone they are close, and on the whole bill it depends on modules. Tekmetric publishes $199, $349 and $439 per month month-to-month with no contract, and its Marketing add-on runs about $345/month per shop with Multi-Shop at about $70 and the Tire Suite at about $39 — putting a growing shop at roughly $850+/month per location (published rates and third-party breakdowns, July 2026). Service VIN is Essentials $79, Growth $199 and Command $399 in US dollars, with two months free on annual billing, no per-seat charge, and the AI calling and texting team included rather than sold per shop. The comparison is only meaningful for an appearance shop, because a repair shop on Service VIN would still need parts and labor tooling elsewhere. The full head-to-head is on the Service VIN vs Tekmetric page.
Is Service VIN a good Tekmetric alternative for a general repair shop?
No. Service VIN has no parts catalogue, no PartsTech-style ordering, no MOTOR labor guides, no repair-order workflow and no digital vehicle inspection. A repair shop running on it would be re-keying parts prices by hand and estimating labor from memory. If you turn wrenches, compare Shopmonkey, AutoLeap, Shop Boss and Torque360 to Tekmetric and ignore the rest of this page.
What does Tekmetric do that Service VIN does not?
Three mature subsystems we do not have and are not building: MOTOR labor guides with automatic markup, the PartsTech parts pipeline, and photo and video digital vehicle inspections. Its month-to-month billing with no long-term contract is also a genuinely good policy that several of its competitors do not match. The honest framing of this whole page is that Tekmetric is a better repair platform than Service VIN will ever be, and that a film shop is not a repair shop.
When does an appearance shop actually outgrow repair software?
Usually at the quote. A repair platform prices parts at a markup against a labor guide, and a full front of film is neither — it is coverage against a roll you cut, with waste, remnants and a per-foot cost that changes with the lot you bought. Shops notice it as three symptoms: quoting from a spreadsheet beside the system, never knowing the real margin on a film job, and warranty paperwork that lives in a folder rather than on the vehicle record.
Can I move my data off Tekmetric?
Yes, though not through a preset. Tekmetric is not one of Service VIN's named import presets today, so plan on a CSV export and the generic importer, which matches columns you confirm rather than ones we have pre-mapped. Customers, vehicles, invoice history, job history and open leads transfer; photos, quotes, notes and appointment history do not, so plan to start those fresh. Importing is silent — it never texts, emails or calls a customer — and a customers import can be undone in one click within 24 hours.
Thinking about moving? The switch guide lists exactly what an import brings across — customers, vehicles, invoice history, job history and open leads — and what it does not.
