Your first day as a tech or installer

You landed on My Work. Here's the whole thing: today's jobs, clocking in, working a job, photos, your schedule, your pay, and alerts — all from your phone.

Getting started6 in this section

Welcome. When you log in you land on My Work — your day, and only your day. No prices, no customer phone numbers, no one else's pay. Just the jobs on your bench, the clock, and what's coming up. This is built for a phone in the shop, so everything is thumb-sized and a couple of taps away.

Five tabs run your whole day. On a phone they sit in a bar across the bottom; on a laptop they're a row of pills up top. Today is home. Schedule is your week. Clock is your hours. Pay is what you've earned. Alerts is anything new for you.

Your first five minutes

  1. 1

    Clock in

On Today (or the Clock tab), hit the big Clock in button. The banner flips to "On the clock" and starts counting. Do this before you touch a car.

  2. 2

    Find your job

Under Your jobs, tap the one you're starting. If a job is already on your bench, it shows at the top under On the bench now.

  3. 3

    Work it

Start the timer on each work item, mark items complete, snap your before/after photos. More on that below.

  4. 4

    Clock out

End of shift, hit Clock out. Your hours land on the Clock tab and, if you're paid hourly, on your Pay.

The counts on Today, in plain terms

On the bench is jobs you've got going right now. Due today is what's scheduled for today. Overdue is anything whose time slot has already passed — if that number is red, those are the ones to chase first.

Opening a job. Tap any job card and you get everything for that one car in a single screen. At the top is a Stage stepper — move the job along as you work it (in progress → curing → QA → ready). Below that: when it's Scheduled, which Bay it's in, and Your pay this job (your flat-rate total on the items that are yours — never anyone else's).

Working a job, top to bottom

  1. 1

    Time each work item

Every item on the checklist has its own stopwatch. Hit Start when you begin it, Stop if you step away, Complete when it's done. If the item has a target time, you'll see how much you have left or how far over you've gone — it's a guide, not a grade.

  2. 2

    Take the photos

The Photos section has tiles that open your camera: Before, After, Defects, Panels, and VIN. Shoot before you start and after you finish — that's the record that backs up your work and the customer's warranty.

  3. 3

    Capture the VIN

The VIN tile is special: snap the VIN plate and it reads the number straight onto the vehicle, so nobody has to type it. If the Vehicle box says "Not captured," that's your cue to use it.

  4. 4

Message the customer (only if asked)

Message the customer offers pre-approved texts only — a quick "your vehicle's ready" without exposing the customer's number to you. Tap one to send; there's nothing to write.

  5. 5

    Register a warranty

Installed film or coating with coverage? Use the Warranty box to register it on the job so the paperwork exists.

  6. 6

    Leave a note

The Notes box is for anything the shop should know — a hidden defect you found, a part you're waiting on. Managers see it on their side.

You only ever see your own numbers

My Work hides customer pricing and other techs' pay on purpose. The pay you see on a job, and everything on your Pay tab, is yours alone. That's by design — not a permissions glitch.

Your Schedule (Schedule) lays out the next seven days as an agenda — each day, each time slot, each car, with the bay it's in. Tap any row to jump straight into that job. If a slot shows in red, it's running late.

Your Pay (Pay) is honest and live. The big number up top is today — and if you're on the clock and paid hourly, it ticks up as you work. Under it are your week and your pay period totals, an Earnings list (a line per completed flat-rate item, a line per shift for hourly), and a My rates card so you can always see what you're paid — set by the shop, view-only for you.

Your Alerts (Alerts) is your personal inbox: a new job assigned to you, a job rescheduled, a bay change, a note. A number on the Alerts tab means there's something unread; opening the tab clears it. Most alerts tap straight through to the job they're about.

Put it on your phone

Everything here works in the phone's browser, but there's also a native app with the same login. It's nicer for camera work and gives you push alerts for new jobs. See Set up the mobile app — or ask your manager to send you the download.

Troubleshooting

The Clock in / Clock out button does nothing or shows an error.

Why: You aren't set up as a team member yet, so there's no profile to attach a shift to.

Fix: The page will say "You're not set up yet." Ask your manager to add you to the team, then reload — the clock works right after.

A work-item timer won't start.

Why: Your shop requires you to be clocked in before timing work, and you're currently clocked out.

Fix: Go to the Clock tab (or the banner on Today) and clock in, then start the timer again.

A photo won't upload.

Why: Usually a weak shop-wifi or cell signal mid-upload, or the browser was denied camera access.

Fix: Check your camera permission in the phone's settings, get back into signal, and retake the shot — the tile is ready as soon as it reconnects.

My pay looks wrong or a completed job isn't in Earnings.

Why: Flat-rate lines post when a work item is marked Complete; hourly posts from clocked shifts. An item left running or not completed won't have paid out yet.

Fix: Open the job and make sure each item you finished is marked Complete. If it still looks off, flag it to your manager — they set and can adjust the rates.

Common questions

I clocked in but the shift timer shows different times than my hours.

The banner counts your current open shift live from when you clocked in. The Today/This week totals on the Clock tab add up all your finished shifts plus the open one. They line up once you clock out.

Why can't I see prices or the customer's phone number?

My Work is deliberately stripped down for the bench — no customer pricing, no contact details, no other workers' pay. You get names, vehicles, schedule and your own pay. Managers work the money side on the full dashboard.

A job isn't showing up on my Today or Schedule.

Jobs appear here once they're assigned to you and scheduled. If one's missing, it hasn't been assigned to you yet — ask your manager to put you on it.

Do I have to clock in before starting a job timer?

Sometimes. Some shops require an open shift before any work-item timer will start; if yours does and you're not clocked in, the timer will tell you. Clock in first and it'll go.

The clock asked for my location — do I have to allow it?

Only if your shop turned on location on punches. It's best-effort: if you deny it or it times out, your clock-in still lands — it just won't attach a GPS pin.
