Swirl marksFine, spider-web scratches in the clear coat, usually from improper washing and drying. They're most visible on dark paint under direct light and are removed by paint correction, not by wax or a quick polish.

Why it matters to a shop

Swirls are what a walk-around finds and what the before-and-after photo shows, so they are the easiest upsell in detailing to make honestly. Documenting them on intake also protects you from being blamed for damage that arrived with the car.
